I look like both of my parents. In these two photos, I am making expressions like each of them. I find it so fascinating, how we carry our ancestors in our very faces!
Missing them both lately.
I had a wonderful talk with two of my grad. school classmates at the library yesterday. They are both in their midtwenties, and I am the age of their parents! We were talking about being separated from family, being close to family, love, pain, the whole thing. It felt great to connect with these girls, who are new to the program this year and with whom I've never sat and talked. It was a joy!
Anyway, I'm honoring my parents today. And it's time to wake up my teenager, who would happily sleep the day away if given the chance. I'm luring him awake with the smell of freshly baked muffins!

Brina,
You will LOVE the documentary Winged Migration. Really fascinating for me was to also be able to watch, on the DvD, how they did that! You will love the documentary given your prayers to them, which I am pretty sure--me being all sentimental over my grandparents--deliver your prayers.
Likeness is funny. Mine own being a strange map; but I saw a photo of my cousin last night. He is holding his nine month old daughter, his first, and he looks entirely like my uncle (who had passed before his son's wedding!). Yes, funny and heart breaking and then humorous--"they're here". In us.
Here's to Rachel!

Hi Brina,
Thanks so much for your good wishes. I miss my dad a lot around Remembrance Day, too, all that looking back, I suspect.
Enjoy Winnipeg, and have a fab time in San Fran. That is one great city.
HI Brina, how are you? I did see The Who in San Jose Wednesday night. They are a well oiled machine, Pete is absolutely amazing. There was no Rachel sighting, sigh. But I listened to her pre-show thing on Sirius and I heard her say the next B & N gig is Minneapolis! I was thinking of you. Alas, I will not be going to any B & N gigs, or Attic Jams, would have been really great to see Rachel perform. I am glad that you enjoy my Brittany photos! How is your beautiful Polly doing? I wonder what she would do with all those cats?
mmm, the warm smell of muffins, sounds delicious! can I come by for breakfast?!
It is pretty amazing how we have our parents expressions. I look in the mirror as I get older and see them both. And when I look at their younger day photos, I see me. I miss them both very much.
How is the new haircolour coming along? Did you get the chunks put in?
xx Grace
Hi Ladies,
Gina, so glad you came over!
Anne-Marie, you are one busy and newsworthy gal. I can't believe I didn't know this big news of yours.
Grace, Polly is fabulous, enjoying winter already. I did get blond chunks in my hair but have not felt very photogenic during this month of being sick (viral crud), so haven't put any new photos up in a while.
Hugs,
Brina
Hey Brina,
I agree about children taking over parents' expressions.
Funny story: on my journalist days back in Greece I had a freebie entrance to my mom's favourite (Greek) artist gig. So I took her along as my colleague from the magazine. Of course nobody bought it because we have similar facial features, LOL. But they let her see the show anyway.
Hope you're doing fine. Are you going to Barnes & Noble?
Lots of kisses,
xoxoxo

Dear Brina
What lovely photos!
My guess is the top one is Dad and the bottom one is Mum?
Just a guess, mind you.
Thank you so very much for your kind words on my blog.
I cannot imagine what her parents are going through.
To me that is my absolute worst nightmare.
I cannot imagine what you have been through, too, losing Ethan at such a young age.
You have courage beyond anything I can imagine and I'm sure Carley's parents are learning the same.
We have a wonderful community here with many resources available to us.
Thank you for your offer and I will take you up on your offer if necessary.
You are very kind.
Love
Dale
I am fortunate that my parents are still alive, so I don't even know what the passing of a parent is like, either...
